Details about helping
The Manna Ministries food distribution happens only once per month, for only two hours. In those two hours, we are stocked to serve 125 families a box of groceries, bread, fresh fruit, fresh meat, and a heart full of Jesus’ Love.
We have NO PAID STAFF and are in need of a number of volunteers to help set up, distribute, and then tear down and clean.
Each month we purchase a truck load of fresh produce (900 – 1200 pounds) and meat (1000 – 1500 pounds) that need to be unloaded and quickly sorted on Saturday morning. We also purchase cases of groceries that need to be off-loaded the same morning as distribution.
Again, we need people to help.
We need people to help carry items through the line for people who cannot do it themselves, pull wagons full of groceries to cars, as well as help give items away.
If you and your family are strong and able, please bring your water jug, your hands, your smile, and your prayers.
Unloading and setup begin around 7:45am.
Distribution starts at 9:00am.
Clean up begins at 11:00am.
If you can only come for just 30 minutes, please come at 11:00am for cleanup, when everyone is exhausted.
You will be home for lunch..
We are also looking for churches and civic organizations to adopt one month each year to fill all of our volunteer slots.
If you have access to a pick-up truck, we often need to have someone to help move food from Piggly Wiggly, across the street, to the food pantry. This takes place between 7:00am and 7:45am on the Saturday of the distribution. Once you have dropped off the goods, you are free to go. Piggly Wiggly will load. Manna volunteers will unload.
